Kenya Joseph, a native of New York City, channels her deep-rooted compassion for humanitarian aid and advocacy into her impactful role as the President and Co-founder of Hearts and Hands Food Pantry. Established in 2017, this nonprofit organization, under Kenya's leadership, has become a cornerstone of the greater Charlotte area and its surroundings. With over 20 years of corporate finance expertise, Kenya leverages her skills to address the needs of underserved communities, having successfully fed over 5000 families and cultivating enduring relationships throughout the community.
In response to the heightened challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Kenya harnessed the resources of Hearts and Hands Food Pantry to combat homelessness and provide additional community support—a critical response to an exponential need in and around Charlotte. This initiative led to the co-founding of the Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supplying homeless services. Kenya's impactful work with the Coalition has resulted in the establishment of a transitional house, with two more slated to open in 2022.
Maintaining her commitment to addressing food insecurity, expanding food access, and promoting food equity, Kenya joined the Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council as a board member in 2021, assuming the co-Chair position at the start of 2022. In addition to her nonprofit endeavors, Kenya is the owner of Perfect Blue Alchemy, a skincare and wellness brand, showcasing her passion for advancing the intersections of the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.
Looking ahead, Kenya is enthusiastic about further expanding her contributions in the nonprofit sector, forging community partnerships that will continue to transform the heart of Charlotte.
