To create sustainable, long-term housing solutions that empower individuals and families to remain housed, build stability, and thrive within the Charlotte and surrounding community.
BHBC envisions a stronger Charlotte where housing insecurity is reduced, housing retention is prioritized, and homelessness is decreased by 10% by 2030 through prevention, partnership, accountability, and community-based stabilization.
BHBC provides supportive services within the community to reduce housing instability, prevent unnecessary suffering, and help individuals and families move toward self-sufficiency. Our services promote healthy decision-making, personal accountability, and meaningful community engagement through support and volunteerism.
Building Hope Building Commitment (BHBC) is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Charlotte advancing housing stability through supportive services, resident services coordination, landlord partnership, and long-term housing retention.
BHBC was created to address a hard truth in the homeless services system: housing placement alone does not end homelessness if people are not supported after they move in. Too many individuals and families are placed into housing only to face the same barriers that caused instability in the first place — income disruption, utility burdens, behavioral health challenges, lease violations, lack of support, and weak communication between residents, landlords, and service providers.
BHBC exists to close that gap.
Our work is guided by the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ (RCSM), a retention-first housing framework that helps individuals and families stabilize before crisis becomes eviction, displacement, or a return to homelessness.

BHBC is not a traditional placement-only housing program. We focus on what happens after placement — the critical period where housing either becomes stable or begins to break down.
Through RCSM™, BHBC provides:
Our goal is not dependency. Our goal is stabilization, accountability, and long-term housing success.
Housing loss rarely happens overnight. It usually begins with missed communication, late payments, unresolved conflict, health crises, income changes, or isolation.
BHBC intervenes early.
We work with residents, landlords, referral partners, faith-based organizations, and community providers to identify risk, resolve barriers, and preserve housing before the situation becomes an eviction filing or emergency rehousing need.
RCSM™ is built on five core stabilization pillars:
This model allows BHBC to serve as a bridge between housing access and housing sustainability.
BHBC serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, reentry barriers, chronic health challenges, disability, income instability, and risk of housing loss. We place a strong emphasis on veterans, working households, fixed-income residents, and people who need structured support to remain housed.
In 2025, BHBC served 174 individuals across 150 households, including 74 veterans and 22 chronically homeless individuals. Of those served, 134 remained actively engaged and housed during the reporting period.
BHBC believes housing is not the finish line — stability is.
We are building a housing retention infrastructure that helps communities reduce homelessness, protect tenancy, strengthen landlord partnerships, and support people with dignity while holding them accountable to their own stability.
We are not just building housing solutions.
We are building hope, building commitment, and building a stronger path to long-term housing retention.positive impact and create a better future for all.
